At the Steak Escape restaurant of the San Francisco Shopping Center, the former manager Dion Laurie was extremely abusive. He yelled at, insulted, and kicked workers. He discriminated against Latinos and African American employees and customers. He also humiliated workers. He tricked workers into putting their hands in very hot water and wasted a workers pair of shoes by soaking them in water. He even prohibited workers from communicating in Spanish. The Steak Escape workers united, made demands, and joined YWU to win more hours, more uniforms, better conditions and…A NEW MANAGER! |
